The goal of the HYA Baseball Program is to provide a positive playing experience through teaching sound fundamentals, sportsmanship, confidence and teamwork throughout the various age levels.

Spring Travel Baseball - 2025

HYA Travel Baseball Tryouts will be held on January 24 & 26, 2025 AND February 2, 2025. All players should plan to attend both days of tryouts.

Friday, January 24, 2025 from 5:00 pm – 9:00 pm @ Keystone State Sports (662 Ditz Drive Manheim, PA 17545)

  • 12u tryouts - 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm - Registration will begin at 4:30 pm, and will run up to 5:00 pm
  • players born on or after 5/1/2012 through 4/30/2014

  • 14u tryouts - 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm - Registration will begin at 6:30 pm, and will run up to 7:00 pm
  • players born on or after 5/1/2010 through 4/30/2012

Sunday, January 26, 2025 from 3:00 pm – 6:00 pm @ Keystone State Sports (662 Ditz Drive Manheim, PA 17545)

  • 10u tryouts - 3:00 pm - 6:00 pm - Registration will begin at 2:30 pm, and will run up to 3:00 pm
  • players born on or after 5/1/2014 through 4/30/2017
  • 10u players who do not make a travel baseball team will be automatically registered for the Majors level in our intramural program and the difference in registration costs between the travel and intramural programs refunded to the primary account holder

Sunday, February 2, 2025 from 3:00 pm - 10:00 pm @ Spooky Nook Manheim (2913 Spooky Nook Rd Manheim, PA 17545)

  • 14u tryouts - 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm - Registration will begin at 2:30 pm, and will run up to 3:00 pm
  • players born on or after 5/1/2010 through 4/30/2012

  • 10u tryouts - 5:00 pm - 7:30 pm - Registration will begin at 4:30 pm, and will run up to 5:00 pm
  • players born on or after 5/1/2014 through 4/30/2017
  • 10u players who do not make a travel baseball team will be automatically registered for the Majors level in our intramural program and the difference in registration costs between the travel and intramural programs refunded to the primary account holder

  • 12u tryouts - 7:30 pm - 10:00 pm - Registration will begin at 7:00 pm, and will run up to 7:30 pm

Other Important Information:

All players eligible to play 10u travel baseball (birthdates from 5/1/2014 - 4/30/2017) who are interested in doing so are encouraged to register for the 10u tryouts. If your child is not placed on a travel baseball team, they will be automatically enrolled in our Intramural Majors program, and you will be refunded the difference in registration fees between travel and intramural baseball.

Attending tryouts does not guarantee a spot on a travel baseball team. We limit the number of players on each team, and the registration numbers do not always allow us to have a team for each player. We will do our best to offer alternatives and help find somewhere for your child to play and refund all registration fees in the unlikely event we are not able to find a place for them to play in our organization.

Lancaster County Youth Baseball League (Travel 10U, 12U, 14U) 
1. Practices will start in early to mid-March after teams are selected from try-outs.
2. Games generally start around the 2nd full week in April
3. All league games are played in the Lancaster County.
4. Try-outs are required for all travel baseball teams.
5. Baseball is expected to be your son's primary sport during the season, and Spring baseball is primarily a weekday season with some practices on weekends. Your child should not play on a section 1 team if they plan to miss practices and/or games for tournament baseball on weekdays.
6. Your commitment to the team includes being available for late season playoffs, and possibly the New Era Tournament., which runs into July
7. There are a limited number of players that will be placed on travel teams.
8. Each travel level player will be provided pants, belt, shirt, and hat as part of their paid registration.
9. Players will be required to provide their own glove, cleats, and bat.

Mandatory Fund-raising Obligations: As in past years, we will again be offering two (2) options for fulfilling your mandatory fundraising obligation. Please note each player MUST fulfill his obligations, up to a maximum of 2 players per family. EX: A family with three (3) players need only fulfill fundraising obligations for two (2) players. Fundraising obligations may be satisfied by selecting one of the following options (per player):

1. Sell at least five (5) lottery calendars per player. NOTE: You can request additional lottery calendars for sale in groups of five (5). . PLEASE NOTE HYA WILL NOT ACCEPT RETURNS OF UNSOLD LOTTERY CALENDARS. This applies also to booklets of extra calendars, if requested by the player, OR

2. Pay a $50 opt-out fee during registration. If you do not pay this fee, you will be given lottery calendars to sell.

Spring Intramural Baseball - 2025

Registration: November 25, 2024 through February 17, 2025 for all intramural ages and levels. The HYA Intramural baseball program is for kids in the Hempfield School District (Lancaster, PA)

Ponies: Ages 5-7 (Tee-Ball/Coach Pitch): Birthdates from 5/1/2018 through 4/30/2020
Minors: Ages 6-8 (Coach Pitch): Birthdates from 5/1/2016 through 4/30/2019
Majors: Ages 7-10 (Kid Pitch): Birthdates from 5/1/2014 through 4/30/2018

Time Commitments & Equipment Expectations:

Pony - 1 Practice/Week (Weekday - 1 Hour), 1 Game/Week (Saturday AM - 1 Hour) - All activities will be at Hempfield Fire Department (19 W. Main St, Salunga, PA 17538)
Minor - 2 Practice/Week (Weekday - 1.5 Hour/Per), 1 Game/Week (Saturday AM /PM - 1.5 Hour) - All activities will be at Centerville Middle School (865 Centerville Rd, Lancaster, PA 17601)
Major - 2 Practice/Week (Weekday - 1.5 Hour/Per), 1 Game/Week (Saturday AM/PM - 1.5 Hour) - All activities will be at Centerville Middle School (865 Centerville Rd, Lancaster, PA 17601

Equipment Expectations:
Pony - Glove, cleats, water bottle needed, bat/helmets provided
Minor - Glove, cleats, water bottle needed, bat/helmets provided
Major - Glove, cleats, water bottle needed, bat/helmets provided

Other Notes:
Special Requests (Pony/Minor) - Please limit to 1 special request for Ponies and Minors (Teammate/Coach, Night of the Week, Etc)
Special Requests (Major) - There are no special requests for teammates, teams are completed via draft by coaches after evaluations. The concept is to evaluate players, and create equitable teams based on skill to enhance the competition levels.
